Statute Of Limitations

Can't register on Spire for credits for the upcoming semester? Get a threatening email that your Statute of Limitations has expired? Don't panic!

The Statute of Limitations (SOL) is the number of years the Graduate School thinks it will take you to complete your coursework (6 years for PhD students who enter with BA; 4 years for PhD students entering with an MA). It is not necessarily the same as the number of semesters you've been promised funding. Exceeding your SOL is not uncommon.

To remedy the problem, ask ude.ssamu.hsilgne|kab#kaB adnaW in the Graduate English Office to send a letter to the Graduate Dean asking for an extension. This may be a yearly process once you've reached your limit. It is also possible for the Graduate Program Director (GPD) to stipulate a progress time line when filing.
